Lipolysis – The Art of Shaping the Body in the Easiest Way Possible

What Is Lipolysis?

Lipolysis is a medical injection procedure that is used to melt localized body fat. Lipolysis started in France in 1952 and the procedure was officially accepted in 1987 and put on the official list of medical procedures. Lipolysis is used to reduce the accumulated fat cells in certain regions which leads to reshaping the problematic area (the stomach, hips, legs, knees, hands, chin)

What Does a Lipolysis Treatment Look Like and How Many Treatments Are Needed?

The treatment is done by using extremely thin needles and injecting the lipolytic directly into the localized fatty deposits in a certain region and is most commonly performed on the inner or outer side of the thighs and knees, stomach, hips, upper arms, and chin. Lipolysis is a safe, quick, and painless procedure. The wanted results can be achieved in three to six weeks and the procedure is repeated every four weeks.

What Does a Lipolysis Cocktail Contain?

The doctor determines the type and amount of lipolytic individually for each client depending on their needs. Phosphatidylcholine (PC) is used for lipolysis. It is one of the most important enzymes that regulate the cell metabolism. PC emulsifies the fat and quickens its absorption and transport. Lipolysis is a great alternative to liposuction because there is no recovery period and the results are permanent if the patient continues a healthy lifestyle.

How is Performed?

After a consultation with the doctor, the lipolytics are injected into the subcutaneous fatty deposits with thin needles. If needed a local anesthetic can be applied. The procedure takes up to 30 minutes and it is not considered painful.

How Does Lipolysis Work?

Unlike a classic diet, lipolysis manages to destroy the fat cells, where the walls and connecting tissue of the fat cells are disintegrated so the fat cells will not be accumulating in the treated area anymore.

  • lipolytic leads to the melting of the fat cells and releasing the fatty acids
  • lipolytic hydrolyzes the fatty acids and makes them dissolvable in a liquid environment
  • the fatty acids outside of our fat cells are a signal that the macrophage (the cleaners of our organism) are quickly arriving at the place that has been treated and taking the fatty acids into the liver where they are further metabolized

How Often Should Lipolysis Be Done?

The number of treatments depends on the amount of fat tissue. Sometimes even one treatment can be enough. If multiple procedures are needed to achieve the wanted results, it is advised to treat one region every four to six weeks.

When Should Lipolysis Be Avoided?

Lipolysis should be avoided if the patient is:

  • pregnant
  • breastfeeding
  • suffering from an active malign or autoimmune disease
  • having an infection

How Does the Body React to Lipolysis?

Slight swelling, redness, or bruising can appear in the area of the treatment that goes away in a couple of days. After lipolysis, we recommend doing a lymphatic drainage massage.
